The Amazing to Zany Animal Facts Contest

Leaping Antelope Productions is offering a $250 prize to U.S. science teachers and their classes for the best entry submitted by January 30, 2012.

There is no admission fee for this contest but you must follow the rules carefully to be eligible.

Who is eligible?

Science teachers and their elementary classes, grades 1-6

What is the contest?

Submit a 1000 word essay including at least 3 Amazing to Zany Animal Facts that have an alphabet clue. The essay should describe the facts and why you selected them. Include at least two verifiable references to back up each of your Amazing to Zany claims. After all, all good scientists need to provide data to backup their claims. Your entry cannot include any of the facts previously published on the Dr. Wilderness Amazing to Zany Animal Facts poster.

Who will select the winning entry?

Our panel of judges includes the editors at Leaping Antelope Productions and Dr. Wilderness aka Khevin Barnes.

How will the entries be judged?

The entries will be judged based on the following criteria.

• The facts selected—in terms of how interesting, amazing or zany they are
• The way you have linked the facts in your essay
• How well your essay is written
• How you provide your backup data

No phone calls or e-mail submissions please. The classroom contest winners will be notified in writing and in addition to the cash prize, the winners will receive an award certificate. The winners will be announced and listed on our site on March 1, 2012.
